MARYLAND PA LICENSING & RECERTIFICATION
PA MODERNIZATION ACT: Thanks to the efforts of the Maryland Academy of PAs and Maryland state senator, Mary Beth Carozza, the PA Modernization Act (HB 0806/SB0167) became legislation. On October 1st, 2024, this legislation went into effect, setting the groundwork for updated PA practice Maryland. Through the Maryland PA Modernization Act, PAs can now expect the following:
RECERTIFICATION: In Maryland, PA license renewal is required by June 30th of the first odd year. For PA license renewal in Maryland, specific CME requirements are required.

MARYLAND LOAN ASSISTANCE REPAYMENT PROGRAM (MLARP)
"The Maryland Department of Health administers the State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) and the Maryland Loan Repayment Assistance Program (MLARP). The State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) is a federal program that requires a 1:1 match to Maryland Loan Assistance Repayment Program (MLARP). The MLARP program is a State of Maryland program. The SLRP provides educational loan repayment funds to physicians and physician assistants who must serve a 2 year obligation in a health professional shortage area (HPSA) or medically underserved area (MUA), either in primary care or mental health."
